Introducing Winston.

This boy was red listed and scheduled for euthanasia. Jansen received a plea for a Parvo pup at Downey that was on a 11am deadline and rescue only. The village, that is rescue, stepped in to make this happen; Labradors and Friends helped pull Winston and get him to safety. This poor boy could barely stand and walk.

He was then off to our vet partner, Stephanie and her team at Katella Animal Clinic, where they were able to evaluate him. Their hospital is currently full so they didn't have room or the ability to offer 24 hour watch/care for this sick boy, so they recommended that he go to the emergency vet.

Any of us that have been to the EVet know this is very costly appointment, and it was for Winston ... but this visit bought this sweet boy some very needed time where they were able to administer fluids and stabilize him while the search for a veterinarian clinic with a Parvo/Distemper unit continued.

Stephanie, with her amazing resources, found a clinic in the LA area where she was able to refer WCBR ... Pico Animal Treatment and Surgical Center ... where Winston is now receiving treatment. WCBR also provided a $1000 good faith deposit towards his care. Whew! A very busy day for Jansen, Stephanie and the WCBR team. Now the hard part ... waiting and watching.

We received a $2500 Medical Match to help Winston and within 48 hours that match was met! All of Winston’s medical was covered by his angel family that would like to stay anonymous. They covered his costs at the Pico Animal Treatment and Surgical Center as well as covering his EVet bill. This family, understanding rescue and knowing that most rescues do not have unlimited funds, wanted to make sure that Winston would be able to receive all the necessary treatments he needed to beat Parvo and all the other virus he was battling.

In rescue, we have seen the worst of humankind…. and then there are families like this that remind us that there are truly earth angels who walk among us. We are so blessed.

More on Winston soon….
