Get Involved

Your time can help our Boxers! Every bit of contact, socialization and attention makes a difference.

We need your help.

There are so many ways you can make a difference in the lives of homeless Boxers, and so many different levels of involvement. It is just dependent on how much time you have to give. By working together we can make a difference in a dog’s life that would have otherwise ended tragically.

How can you help?
Here are some of the ways.

  • Adopt a Boxer!

  • Foster a Boxer in need.

  • Donate. No donation is too small, we are grateful for any amount!

  • Donate supplies like dog crates, toys, collars, leashes, harness, office supplies, equipment, etc.

  • Volunteer your services to help with fundraising, website maintenance, newsletter production, news, media and public relations, dog training, etc.

  • Walk dogs (most of our dogs start their journey with us in Southern California/La Habra area).

  • Conduct adoption interviews via telephone.

  • Conduct home checks.

  • Transport dogs to/from veterinary appointments, shelters, adoptions, events, foster homes, etc.

  • Help us train and socialize our dogs.

  • Provide care for special needs dogs.

Everyone has strengths, so what is your “fast ball”? We’d love to hear about your skills and how we can work together. If you can make some time in your schedule and would like to help us by volunteering, please fill out our volunteer form. We look forward to hearing from you!

Please consider fostering a Boxer!

Fostering saves lives. When you foster a Boxer from WCBR, all medical expenses are covered, along with food, crates, leashes, collars, etc. can be provided. By fostering you can give a dog a valuable life experience that helps them get adopted faster, allows them to decompress from their previous life, and begin to show their personalities and skills.

Here are the top 10 reasons to foster a Boxer:

  1. Fostering a Boxer saves not just one life, but two. Your foster dogs life and the next Boxer WCBR can save.

  2. Rescued Boxers desperately need people who understand the Boxer breed. Not everyone appreciates some of the breed specific nature of Boxers’ with their high energy and comedic personalities. If you love this sweet, funny, energetic breed like we do, please become a foster. ♥

  3. Boxers keep you fit. This breed is active and will keep you active in turn. You’re welcome.

  4. Boxer owners live longer. Betty White was quoted as saying, “A sense of humor has kept me young.” We believe this is true too if you have a Boxer. They are the comedians of dogs, and if you have a sense of humor, the laughter they provide will keep you alive forever.

  5. Foster Boxers make excellent wing-men/wing-women. Trying to meet Mr. or Mrs. Right or your new bestie? Boxers are a great way to meet new people, and in turn, they get to build on their socialization skills. Win-win.

  6. Fosters Boxers are a great way to test drive a dog. Not sure if you’re ready to make the 10-15 year plunge to adding a Boxer to your home? Fostering will give you the experience you need to make this decision.

  7. Fostering a Boxer relieves loneliness.

  8. Fostering a Boxer helps them find their forever home faster. You will learn so much about their behaviors and personality that will help new potenial homes determine if this is the dog for them.

  9. Fostering is all the benefits of dog ownership without the expense, and some tax write-offs. Sweet deal, right?

  10. You will be a forever hero to your foster dog. Cape and masks are optional.

If these 10 points ring true for you, please fill out our foster application. It will be one of most rewarding things you will do, not only in your life, but in the lives of the dogs you foster.

Fostering is different with every dog ... the common thread is that they all need love, patience and time.

A POEM TO MY FOSTER DOG

I am the bridge,

Between what was and
what can be.

I am the pathway to a new life.

I am made of mush,

Because my heart melted
when I saw you,

Matted and sore, limping,
depressed
Lonely, unwanted,
afraid to love.

For one little time you are mine.

I will feed you with my own hand.

I will love you with my whole heart.

I will make you whole.

I am made of steel.

Because when the time comes,

When you are well, and sleek,

when your eyes shine,

And your tail wags with joy

Then comes the hard part.
I will let you go-not without a tear,

But without a regret.

For you are safe forever–

A new dog needs me now.
