Meet Rosie
Rosie came to West Coast Boxer Rescue as an owner surrender in May of last year at just 11 months old. Despite her young age, she had already given birth to a single puppy—an early start to life that spoke volumes about the hardship she had endured before rescue.
When Rosie arrived, it was clear she had not been properly socialized with people or other dogs beyond her littermate, Maddie, who was surrendered at the same time along with her ten puppies. Rosie was fearful, unsure of the world around her, and displayed aggressive behaviors toward unfamiliar people. Handling her safely was a challenge, and it was evident she needed experienced, patient help to give her the chance she deserved.
WCBR enrolled Rosie with the incredible Sarah Thompson at No Limits Dog Training, where the focus was on confidence-building and helping Rosie learn that humans could be trusted. Through consistent training and structure, Rosie began to make remarkable progress. Her foster mom, Brooke, then gently and thoughtfully introduced Rosie to the outside world, showing her step by step that it didn’t have to be such a frightening place.
Poor Rosie ended up at the ER after she collapsed while outside playing.
She first vomited and then collapsed.
Brooke rushed her to the ER.
Initially, they thought it may be heart related. She is only 1, but they had to rule it out. The doctor determined it was anaphylactic shock due to unknown agent, so they proceeded to treat as anaphylactic shock.
Treatment included Xray, Ultrasound, Gastrocopay, Epinephrine, Fluids, Steroids and Antihistamines. Through all this they have discovered that she has an inflamed gall bladder and fluid in her abdomen. Her treatment continues as the veterinarians attempt to determine the cause of her collapse.
Her bill to date is $2,883.74. Your donation helps us with this payment. Thank you.
Today, aside from her recent medical setback, Rosie continues to thrive in her foster home. She has successfully integrated into Brooke’s personal dogs, forming a new pack and learning what it means to feel safe, supported, and loved.
Rosie’s journey is a powerful example of resilience, patience, and what is possible when a dog is given time, understanding, and unwavering commitment.
