Mason is a 2-year-old male boxer currently in Escondido. He is neutered and microchipped but needs his vaccinations updated. He weighs approximately 40 lbs.

Mason is being rehomed because his owner has been unable to get him reliably housebroken. They report that despite working on the issue for the past two years, Mason continues to have accidents in the house without giving any indication that he needs to go outside. Although he is crate trained, they say he regularly soils his crate and will then lay and roll in it. His owner reports that they have tried multiple trainers and discussed the issue with their veterinarian but have not found a solution.

Mason is good with people and other dogs, and his experience with cats is unknown. He does okay on a leash and, at only 2 years old, is still a high-energy young boxer. He currently does not have a yard, so a home with a secure yard where he can have frequent and consistent potty breaks would be ideal.

Mason needs someone with patience who is willing to start over with him. He would benefit from a structured routine, frequent opportunities to go outside, positive reinforcement, and an owner committed to figuring out what is driving the behavior. Given how persistent and unusual the issue has been, we may need to explore whether there is an underlying medical, behavioral, or anxiety-related cause that has not yet been identified.

Mason is only 2 years old. He deserves the chance to be set up for success and to find someone willing to work through this with him.  We need a committed foster or adopter to help Mason.
