Welcome Humphrey!

Humphrey came to us as a Finder’s Surrender.  The video plea sent to us showed this boy getting along fairly well with a small dog in the yard.  Little was known about this poor guy at the time except that two coyotes were stalking and following him ready to make a move before a good samaritan got to him first.

At his vet appointment, he showed spondylosis of the spine, worn down teeth ( his canines are nubs) and has blood filled growths on his manhood which we will have excised.  Clearly, he was not well cared for in his previous home.  His spondylosis is creating some weakness in his hind legs and he will have to be on gabapentin/galliprant cocktail for the rest of his life to manage the condition.

The finder reported he is friendly with other dogs, however we noticed that when he is laying down or if a large dog is too close to him, he goes into a bit of a defensive mode. This may be due to pain and his condition. Poor bobo. We think he might be better in a home with a smaller dog or an only dog home where there is no threat of rough housing.

Humphrey is estimated to be 6 years old. Flashy fawn and already neutered.

He is being fostered temporarily by Emily in So Cal until he can go to Liz Reeves in Nor Cal.

Thank you, Emily and Liz.  We wouldn’t have been able to say yes to Humphrey had you both not stepped up.
